Lime Centerpieces

Decorating with citrus fruits is super easy and makes any centerpiece look extra special. One way to save money is to use what’s on sale. I decided to make this fun and bright centerpiece for a dinner party last spring because limes were a bargain at the grocery store (10 for $1!). But you could use lemons or oranges if they’re on sale at the time. Just choose flowers that go well with the colors.

You could also use any size vase that you have at home. I chose small vases because I wanted to keep this particular table setting more fun and casual. These cylinder vases were only $5 each at Crate and Barrel! They could be used to hold flowers or with water for floating candles.

MATERIALS:

  • pink hyacinths
  • green hydrangeas
  • 2 small cylinder vases
  • 10-12 limes

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Wash the limes and cut in half. The rounded base of the limes will provide the interior support needed to keep the limes pressed against the glass vase.
  2. Stack the lime halves along the outside edge of each vase, making sure to press them firmly against the glass.
  3. Add water to the vases to keep the fruit color lasting and the flowers fresh.
  4. Trim the flowers and arrange in the vases.
  5. (Optional) Add a few votive candles around your centerpiece for an elegant and romantic glow.
